Who are we?

We met in the annals of UCD Dramsoc and worked on a variety of weird and wonderful plays together as students. We have come together again to work on our new play Bump at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2017.

Rosa Bowden
Co-Director & Deviser of Bump

Rosa Bowden is an actor and director from Dublin. She has a BA in English and Drama from University College Dublin and is currently studying for an MA in Theatre Practice at the Gaiety School of Acting and UCD. During her time in UCD she received the Ad Astra Performing Arts Scholarship and trained under the direction of Kellie Hughes. She served as Auditor of UCD Dramsoc from 2015-2016.

In 2015 she directed My Mother Said I Never Should by Charlotte Keatley at UCD Dramsoc and the Lir Studio One as part of the Irish Student Drama Association (ISDA) Festival. The play won 6 awards at the festival including Best Director and Best Overall Production. Most recently she directed Duck by Stella Feelihy at UCD Dramsoc and Nun’s Island Theatre Galway as part of ISDA 2016. The play won 3 awards including Best Director and was nominated for Best Overall Production.

Her credits as an actor include; On Raftery’s Hill, King Lear, The 39 Steps, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth (UCD  Dramsoc), Girls Like That (The New Theatre) and The Critic (Rough Magic).

Cathal Sheerin
Co-Director & Deviser of Bump

Cathal Sheerin is a recent graduate from U.C.D. with a degree in English & History. During his time in U.C.D. he was an active member of U.C.D. Dramsoc where he served as Treasurer of the society in its 89th Session. Here he had many roles including director, producer, stage manager and dramaturge. His U.C.D Dramsoc credits include: as a Director: On Raftery’s Hill, The Cordelia Dream, Brief Interviews with Hideous Men (also adapted by him for the stage from a short story). Stage Manager: My Mother Said I Never Should (Winner of

Best Overall Production). Producer: Duck. Festival Director: Beckett/Pinter Festival. Outside of UCD Cathal stage managed After Miss Julie at The Teacher’s Club, Dublin and is part of the Front of House Team and the Abbey Theatre.

Rosa Torr

Rosa is an actor, writer and theatre maker who trained at UCD, Fourth Monkey Theatre Company and Battersea Arts Centre. During her time in UCD she received the Ad Astra Performing Arts Scholarship and trained under the direction of Kellie Hughes. She was an active member of UCD Dramsoc and served as Visual Design Artist of the society from 2015 -2016. Her acting credits include 4:48 Psychosis, My Mother Said I Never Should and Lungs (Winner of Best Actress at Dramsoc Awards 2016). She is a founding member of BUMP&GRIND Theatre Company and co-wrote and performed the company’s debut one woman show Bump at the Assembly Venues at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2017. 

Shane Gill
Lighting Designer for Bump
Shane Gill is a freelance lighting designer based in Dublin and a recent graduate of University College Dublin with a BSc in Astrophysics.  During his time in UCD, he served as both Technical and Theatre manager of UCD dramsoc and also secured an AD astra lighting design internship with Death at Intervals(Kellie Hughes and Galway International Arts Festival). Recent design credits include The Voice Factor[X], All That We Found Here, Young Skins(New Theatre), Test Dummy, Fizzy Drinks with Two Straws(Theatre Upstairs) and My Mother Said I Never Should(Lir Studio One) Winner Best Lighting Design at the 2015 Irish Student Drama Awards(ISDA). 
Kelley Gissane
Producer of Bump
Kelley has worked in an administrative capacity in two major Irish arts organisations; Dublin Theatre Festival and the Gate Theatre, Dublin. Kelley fulfilled the role of Artistic Intern at Dublin Theatre Festival in 2015 which saw her research international festivals, co-producing, programming, curating and international visiting companies. In the Gate Theatre, Dublin, she worked as P.A to the Director & General Administrator. Producing training includes a six day course spread over five months of Creative Producer Training at Smock Alley Theatre: Smock Generator Course as part of the Scene + Heard Festival 2017 and two day intensive course in Producer Training with Irish Theatre Institute in association with The Lir Academy of Dramatic Arts. Producing credits include Home (Smock Alley), Broken Strings (Smock Alley), New History (Smock Alley), Girls Like That (The New Theatre), Othello (UCD Dramsoc), In. A. Hoop. (Smock Alley), bedbound (UCD Dramsoc & The Lir), The 39 Steps, The Glass Menagerie, All My Sons and more (UCD Dramsoc. Kelley held the position of Auditor (President/Chair) of the UCD Drama Society, Dramsoc for the 2014/15 session where she was artistic director for the society and ran and maintained a theatre seating 113 people, producing ten performances per week of two different full productions during the semester. She has directed in the past as well, credits include King Lear, Romeo & Juliet and Howie the Rookie (UCD Dramsoc).
Ailish Toal
Assistant Producer of Bump

Ailish Toal recently completed her BA in History and Politics in University College Dublin and is the current Auditor of UCD Dramsoc. While in Dramsoc she produced a number of shows including Brief Interviews with Hideous Men by David Foster Wallace, On Raftery's Hill by Marina Carr and  Low Level Panic by Claire McIntyre, as well as directing Cell by Paula Meehan. She is currently producing My Name is Rachel Corrie which will be on in The New Theatre in July. 

Rachel Heavey
Composer/Sound Designer for Bump
Rachel Heavey is an independent composer and sound designer, originally from Dublin but now living in Berlin. Rachel composed the music and sound design for Bump. She is delighted to contribute to the production.
