Theatre in Education
BUMP & GRIND Theatre Company are available for performances in schools, which can be accompanied by workshops in theatre making.
Dubbed 'the next big thing' by Broadway Baby, BUMP&GRIND Theatre are determined to bring political, engaging work that inspires and engages students. Following our critically acclaimed success at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2017, our show Bump is ready to be performed at your school.
Bump is a devised, fast-paced and humorous one woman show, created out of a collaborative process. It follows the main character Lily in her decision to have an abortion, but the plays main focus is on the complex relationships between Lily and the women in her life.
The performance lasts for one hour and being a one woman show, is highly adaptable to a space and does not require an elaborate set.
Following the show we would like to offer your school the option of a workshop tailored to the Edexel, AQA and Educas syllabuses. Our workshop is designed towards the devising aspect of Drama GCSE and/or A Level. We encourage students to look into what makes them unique as artists and to build upon their beliefs and stories to create work that is truthful to them. Our aim is to show students that theatre is more than narratives and costumes, that it can be a tool for real change and a means of expression. Workshops are run by the founding members Rosa Bowden (MA Theatre Practise), Rosa Torr (BA Politics and Ad Astra Performing Arts Scholar), and Cathal Sheerin (BA English, former Treasurer of UCD Dramsoc).
Alternatively, we offer simply the show and an optional Q+A for the Theatre Review aspect of the course. Given the themes within the show, Bump is also available for PSCHE/Pastoral Studies.
